Google Search Console Platform Properties: How Vietnamese SMEs Can Track Social & Video Content in Search

Google Search Console Platform Properties is a new feature that lets you see exactly how your Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube content appears and performs inside Google Search and Discover. Rolled out fully on 29 July 2026, it finally connects the social and video content your business already publishes with the search traffic it quietly generates. For Vietnamese SMEs that pour hours into TikTok reels or YouTube videos, this is the missing measurement layer you have been waiting for.

What Are Platform Properties in Google Search Console?

Platform Properties is a new property type inside Google Search Console, the free tool Google provides to monitor how content performs in search. Google announced it on 7 July 2026, began a gradual rollout in mid-July, and made it fully available on 29 July 2026. Instead of tracking a website you own, a Platform Property tracks a social or video channel, currently Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube, and shows how that channel’s public content surfaces in Google Search and Discover.

Once connected, you get three views. The Performance report shows total clicks, impressions, and the exact search queries driving people to your posts, with the ability to filter by individual post and export the data. The Insights report gives a high-level read on traffic trends, top-performing posts, and how audiences discover you. Achievements highlights growth milestones, such as passing new click thresholds from Google Search over the last 28 days. It expands on the Social channels view Google first offered inside Search Console Insights back in 2025.

Why This Update Matters for Vietnamese SMEs

Most SMEs in Vietnam treat social media and SEO as two separate worlds. You post reels for an F&B brand or property listing videos on TikTok, and separately you hope your website ranks on Google. In reality, that social and video content already appears in Google Search results, you just had no way to measure it. Platform Properties closes that gap and turns guesswork into data you can act on.

  • You finally see which TikTok or YouTube videos pull in Google Search traffic, not just in-app views.
  • You learn the real search queries customers use to find your content, pure keyword gold for your website SEO.
  • You can prove the ROI of content production to a boss or client with clicks and impressions from Google, not vanity metrics.
  • You spot which formats and topics Google favours, so you stop guessing and double down on what works.

For a Da Nang homestay, a Ho Chi Minh City clinic, or a Hanoi retail shop, this means every hour spent filming a reel can now be tied to measurable discovery on Vietnam’s most-used search engine.

How to Set Up Platform Properties in Google Search Console

Setup takes only a few minutes and, like the rest of Search Console, it is completely free. If you already use Search Console for your website, you add the platform alongside it from the same dashboard.

  1. Open Google Search Console and sign in with the Google account that manages your marketing.
  2. Click the property dropdown at the top left and choose “Add property”, or go to the verification page.
  3. Select one of the four supported platforms, Instagram, TikTok, X, or YouTube.
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to verify and authorise the connection to your channel.

Note one honest limitation: Facebook is not among the supported platforms yet. Since Facebook is still a primary channel for many Vietnamese SMEs, keep tracking it through Meta’s own Business Suite insights, and use Platform Properties for the TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and X content where it applies.

Turning Social Search Data Into Real Growth

Data only matters if it changes what you do next. Once your Platform Properties are collecting numbers, treat them as a monthly feedback loop between your social team and your website content.

  • Mine the search queries: any term bringing clicks to your reels is a keyword worth targeting with a dedicated blog post or service page on your website.
  • Repurpose winners: a TikTok that ranks in Google Search deserves a full article, a landing page, or a pinned post to capture more of that demand.
  • Cut the noise: content with impressions but few clicks may need a stronger hook or thumbnail, small tweaks that lift click-through over time.

This is exactly the kind of integrated SEO-and-social workflow we build for clients, where every piece of content feeds a bigger discovery engine instead of living in isolation.

Questions fréquemment posées

Does this work for Facebook Pages too?

Not yet. Platform Properties currently supports Instagram, TikTok, X, and YouTube only. For Facebook performance, continue using Meta Business Suite, and revisit Search Console as Google expands platform support.

Do I need to own the platform to verify it?

You verify channels you control through Google’s on-screen authorisation flow. Google designed Platform Properties so creators and businesses can confirm ownership of channels that are not traditional websites they host themselves.

Is Platform Properties free to use?

Yes. Like all of Google Search Console, Platform Properties is free. You only need a Google account and a few minutes to connect each channel.
